Is it time to redesign your website? Jaci shares 8 tips to help you get the process started. She also explains the basics of updating your website, including what a redesign entails, how much it may cost, and when you should consider a redesign vs. a refresh.
A website redesign is a large project focused on overhauling or revamping your website. The end goal is to have a website with an improved user experience (UX) that hits your business goals. A better UX typically leads to increased conversions, leads, and sales for your business since you meet the needs of a larger group of site visitors.
A website refresh, on the other hand, is a smaller update to your website. Updating your website content, changing the font across your pages, or updating your colors would fall under a refresh.
Think of redesign vs. refresh as updating a part of your house. A redesign is like a big renovation that often includes extensive construction work and some aesthetic updates. A refresh wouldn’t include the extensive construction work, but can be represented by quick things like painting the walls and hanging new paintings.
When you’re ready to start the website redesign process, you shouldn’t jump right to the design phase. You’ll want to analyze your existing website, outline your goals for the new website, and make an action plan so you can keep the project on schedule.
Most importantly, you’ll want to test your redesign every step of the way. Don’t just pick a design because it’s pretty. It’s crucial that your new design works for your audience. You don’t want to invest a lot of time and money into something that no one wants.
Keep your users in mind every step of the way so you know the end product will benefit them and your business.
